Video: Chicago thieves pepper spray store clerks for hair extensions
(CBS) CHICAGO - A surveillance video captures the moment when two suspects pepper-spray and beat two store clerks so that they could steal hair extensions, reports CBS Chicago.
A woman in a hoodie pretended to browse the store until one of the clerks approached her. The robber then pushed and pepper-sprayed the clerk until knocking her unconscious.
Although the beauty supply store had warning signs that there were surveillance video throughout the shop, the robbers didn't stop. A district commander reportedly said the robbers either didn't notice the signs or didn't care.
The other robber, a man, held the cashier by the neck with one hand and pointed a gun with the other hand while demanding cash.
Detectives are hoping for tips that could lead to the arrests of the robbers seen on the video.
The clerk who was knocked unconscious was reportedly treated at the hospital and now recovering at home.
