Victims of "suspicious fire" in Wash, D.C. had stab wounds
WASHINGTON - District of Columbia police say a married couple, their 10-year-old son and a housekeeper were slain in a multimillion-dollar northwest Washington home that was set on fire.
Police Chief Cathy Lanier said Friday that at least three of the victims suffered stab wounds or blunt force injuries and that all four were homicide victims. She says the injuries were sustained before the fire was set on Thursday afternoon.
Lanier identified the couple as 46-year-old Savvas Savopoulos, a corporate executive, and his 47-year-old wife Amy Savopoulos.
Police are seeking information about a Porsche belonging to the family that was found Thursday night in Prince George's County, Maryland. The car had also been set on fire.
Lanier earlier called the fire "very suspicious" and said there were no obvious signs of forced entry into the home. She said the investigation is still in its early stages and that evidence collection will continue for several days, reports CBS affiliate WUSA.
