Venice Film Festival to showcase young Hollywood

(CBS News) The Venice Film festival kicks off Wednesday and the star-studded film showcase will be packed this year with some of Hollywood's younger talents.

The festival will feature films featuring Zac Efron, Shia LaBeouf and even Disney Channel actress Selena Gomez.

This year the competition films have been reduced down to 18 films.

Efron stars in "At Any Price" with Dennis Quaid. In the film Quaid plays Efron's father, Henry Whipple, who wants his son Dean to continue to expand the family's farming empire, but Dean has other plans to become a professional race car driver.

LaBeouf stars in Robert Redford's "The Company You Keep" with Julie Chrisite, Terence Howard, Susan Saradon and more. The thriller is centered on a former Weather Underground activist who goes on the run from a journalist who has discovered his identity. The film is been shown in the Out of Competition category.

Gomez is starring in "Spring Breakers" a film that follows four college girls who end up crossing paths with a drug dealer played by James Franco.

Films in competition for this year's Golden Lion prize also include Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" and Terrence Malick's "To the Wonder."

The 69th Venice Film Festival begins Wednesday and runs until Sept. 8.
