Vanessa Hudgens performs in "Grease: Live" after father's death
Vanessa Hudgens' father passed away the evening before "Grease: Live" but you would never have known it from the actress' strong performance on Sunday night.
Hudgens tweeted on Sunday that her father had died from cancer the night before.
"I am so sad to say that last night my daddy, Greg passed away from stage 4 cancer," she wrote. "Thank you to everyone who kept him in your prayers."
She continued and made it very clear that the show would go on: "Tonight, I do the show in his honor," she tweeted.
Then, Hudgens jumped into character as Betty Rizzo for "Grease: Live" and performed a show-stopping rendition of "There are Worse Things I Could Do."
At the end of the broadcast, the show aired a dedication to her father in the credits that read, "In loving memory of Greg Hudgens."
"Grease: Live" was a hit, topping NBC's "The Wiz Live!" in December, per the Hollywood Reporter.
