It is followed by Harvard, The University of Chicago and Yale, which are tied at No. 3. Columbia University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford ranked next in another tie.
In addition, this is the first year U.S. News is offering postgraduate salary information on 1,000 schools. Topping that list are the U.S. Military Academy (West Point) and Naval Academy, which are tied at about $80,000. The California Institute of Technology is next at more than $78,000.
Salaries were not used to help determine the overall rankings. Those rankings are based on factors like academic excellence, graduation rates, faculty resources and freshman retention rates.
