Unique music made with leaves and a turntable
(CBS News) I mentioned in a post earlier (and was almost completely unrelated to the content) that music can come from anywhere. Luckily, what I wrote then actually applies now to this latest work above from an amazing sound designer and composer who has been featured on The Feed quite a few times now. So make like a tree and "leave" my writing for a bit to check it out.
The unique variation on "spinning" entitled "Duet for Leaves & Turntable" was created by Diego Stocco, who has been highlighted previously for music made from a tree, a dry cleaners and more, and who writes about his fascinating musical experiment:
Recently I bought a turntable to use it for an experiment, but that didn't turn out as I was expecting. Then, I noticed the equally spaced ridges on the plate and got an idea for something else.
For about an hour I recorded short musical phrases by rubbing leaves against the turntable (the type of leaf, angle, pressure and fold determined the sound), then I combined the different takes together. Every element comes from those recordings, including the bass, kick and snare sounds (shaped with EQ, compression and resonators).Another epic and outside-the-box piece from musical genius Diego that has earned him a big triple-rainbow salute of musical excellence from us at The Feed!
