Responding to an anonymous tip, Port St. Lucie police went to a house and made the grim discovery about 4:20 Sunday morning, of the bodies of Hadley's parents, Blake and Mary-Jo. Both were found on the floor in their master bedroom.

Police say the teen threw a party at the house with his parents' bodies half-buried under linens, picture frames, books and other items behind the locked master bedroom door, reports WPEC. It's unclear how a tipster found out about the grisly scene.

Police say the murder weapon was a hammer and that the killing was "brutal" and "merciless." They say both bodies had trauma to the head and torso.

It wasn't immediately clear why the initial counts of first-degree murder against Hadley were reduced to second-degree murder.

The alleged killer is under suicide watch and will be appointed a public defender, WPEC reported.
