"Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer's "The Host" premieres in L.A.
Can the woman behind"Twilight" once again bring in supernatural numbers at the box office?
Author Stephenie Meyer was on the red carpet in Hollywood, Calif., Tuesday night for the premiere of "The Host," the latest movie to be based on one of her books. In addition to penning the novel, Meyer also served as a producer on the film.
"I'm always telling myself stories, and a lot of them are not really a full book," Meyer said on the red carpet, "But this one, I was immediately like 'Wait a minute, this could really turn into something. I need to write this down.'"
Originally published in 2008, "The Host" centers around Melanie (played by Saoirse Ronan) who finds herself in a love triangle similar to Meyer's "Twilight" protagonist Bella. An evil alien race tries to take over humanity through mind control and Melanie sets out to stop them. Diane Kruger plays the villainous leader of the aliens.
Meyer and the cast spoke to K-CAL 9's Suzanne Marques at the premiere about their new sci-fi romance, watch video above.
"The Host" opens in theaters on March 29.
