Turkish helicopter carrying military brass crashes
ANKARA, Turkey - Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency says a military helicopter has crashed in Turkey's Black Sea region. There was no immediate word on any casualties.
The private Dogan news agency says the helicopter, which was transporting a lieutenant general, a colonel and two majors, crashed Tuesday in the northeastern province of Giresun.
Dogan news agency said the soldiers were travelling in the region to visit troops for the Muslim holiday of Eid.
There was no immediate information on the cause of the crash.
Military sources told Reuters eight military personnel and their relatives were on board at the time of the crash. Local media is reporting there were fatalities.
