Travis Baker, Va. man, charged with killing girlfriend on their son's birthday, report says
(CBS) MIDDLESEX COUNTY, Va. - Police in Middlesex say a 34-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after admitting killing his girlfriend on their son's birthday, according to CBS affiliate WTVR.
Investigators reportedly said Travis Baker walked into a sheriff's office Sunday and confessed shooting 33-year-old Wendy Billups twice, while trying to visit his son.
Baker told police that he "snapped and shot her in the head," after the victim told him that he had to leave despite being the boy's birthday, according to the station.
Police reporterly Billups was raising the couple's two young children.
Baker has been charged with first-degree murder and use or display in a threatening manner a firearm while committing or attempting to commit murder, reports WTVR.
