Tornado destroys homes in Nebraska

WAYNE, Neb. A reported tornado in northeast Nebraska has destroyed multiple homes near the town of Wayne.

The National Weather Service said Friday that the tornado caused severe damage to an area south of town. Local television stations said wind gusts of up to 83 mph were reported, and caused damage to structures and trees.

The weather service says a tornado warning was in effect for Dakota and southern Dixon counties in Nebraska until 6:30 p.m. An "extremely dangerous" tornado was located near Emerson, moving northeast at 30 mph.
