Tom Cruise's movies to be celebrated by Film Society of Lincoln Center

The films of Tom Cruise will be celebrated next week in special series hosted by The Film Society of Lincoln Center.

"An Evening with Tom Cruise" will examine some of the 50-year-old actor's best work.

New York Film Festival director of programming, Kent Jones, will host a special event on Monday in New York with the actor, that will be followed by a sneak preview of Cruise's new film, "Jack Reacher," which opens Dec. 21. In the movie, Cruise portrays a tough ex-military investigator out for justice. Proceeds from the event will go to the Film Society of Lincoln Center's 50th Anniversary Fund, which supports education programs and emerging filmmaker initiatives.

Cruise will be on hand to answer questions from the audience.

"Tom's body of work is defined by the bold characters he plays so brilliantly and his collaborations with filmmaking's most venerable directors. Tom consistently chooses smart and exciting projects and we are pleased to present audiences with a first look at his newest role, Jack Reacher," said Rose Kuo, FSLC executive director.

Monday's event will be the first in a series of screenings that will honor Cruise's body of work. From Dec. 18-20, the Film Society will feature screenings of some of his most memorable films in a program dubbed "All the Right Moves: The Films of Tom Cruise": "Born on the Fourth of July," "Jerry Maguire," "The Las Samurai," "Mission: Impossible," "Rain Man," "Risky Business" and "Top Gun."

Cruise has been in London, filming the new science-fiction film, "All You Need is Kill."
