Timberlake "Insanely Talented"
The highly-anticipated "Shrek the Third" opens Friday with several new names in its cast, Justin Timberlake among them.
And the star who's again providing the voice for Shrek, Mike Myers, gushed about Timberlake, and the movie, in a chat with Hannah Storm on Shrek's official opening day Friday.
Timberlake is "very, very talented," Myers said, "perhaps the most talented individual I've ever met in my life. If he wanted to be a comedy actor, dramatic actor, director, anything he would want to do — the world is his oyster. He is insanely talented."
Timberlake voices Shrek's long-lost Cousin Artie in the animated feature. Artie emerges as a possible rival to Shrek for his kingdom's throne when Shrek's father-in-law dies.
The first two Shrek movies took in $1.4 billion and, Myers told Storm, it was an easy decision to do a third.
"The thing about … the whole team is that they're committed to each one being better than the last one," Myers said. "This is the best of the three. The animation is great. The story is great. The cast is great."
"I only want to do stuff that speaks to my heart," Myers added. "And that's the great thing about Shrek is that the message (involving inclusion and understanding that people are different) is so great."
"The great thing they've done with "Shrek," Myers said, "is that villains are heroes in this movie and heroes are villains. And it sort of takes the classic Euro-centric art form of the fairytale and turns it on its head."
