3 siblings arrested in connection with missing Va. cop

WAYNESBORO, Va. - Police searching for missing Waynesboro, Va. Police Capt. Kevin Quick say they have arrested three siblings in connection with the case.

Virginia State Police said at a news conference Wednesday that two women and one man were arrested Tuesday night in Alexandria.

Mersadies Shelton, 20, and Daniel Mathis, 18, are charged with the theft of Quick's vehicle, which was found abandoned in a remote area in Louisa County on Monday. The third person arrested, 24-year-old Shantai Shelton, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. 

All three of the siblings are being held without bond.

The 45-year-old Quick was reported missing Saturday after he failed to show up at the home of his estranged wife late Friday in Louisa County. She lives about 20 miles from his Rockfish home and he texted her that he was on his way.

State police previously said two individuals were seen on surveillance images with Quick's SUV in northern Virginia around 11:40 p.m. Friday. The next day, the same two individuals were seen with Quick’s vehicle in Manassas, according to the station.

It is unclear if any of the three arrested Tuesday night are the same individuals captured in the surveillance images.

A reward for information in Quick’s case has risen to $30,000. Virginia State Police say they are still heavily relying on the public for information leading to the whereabouts of Quick.

Quick is a 24-year veteran of the Waynesboro Police Department’s Police Reserve unit, Waynesboro Police Sgt. Brian Edwards told CBS News' Crimesider on Wednesday. He said Quick holds a volunteer position at the department but is still considered a law enforcement officer.

Edwards said Quick also worked with the Invista Corporation, a company which specializes in the making of synthetic products, but was laid off a few months ago.
