Three arrested in machete murder of Texas boy, 14
HOUSTON - Authorities say murder charges have been filed against three people accused in a machete attack that left a 14-year-old Houston boy dead. Police on Thursday announced the arrest of three suspects in the slaying of Jose Meraz.
According to CBS affiliate KHOU, Meraz's body was found with multiple stab wounds on the 1800 block of Sherwood Forest near the Addicks Reservoir on Sept. 17. Police said Jose Grandados-Guevara, 22, and William Valladares, 17, struck Meraz with a machete, then stabbed him multiple times. Meanwhile, officials say a third suspect, a 14-year-old boy, faces prosecution as a juvenile. His name hasn't been released.
Meraz's body was spotted by a man walking his dog in the woods, according to the station.
Police have not released a possible motive for the murder.
Online Harris County jail records show Valladares was being held without bond Thursday. No attorney was listed. Jail records did not immediately list details for Granados-Guevara.
