Thomas Kinkade autopsy scheduled for Monday

(CBS News) An autopsy will be conducted on Thomas Kinkade on Monday, three days after the famed painter's death, reports Reuters.

Kinkade died in his northern California home of natural causes, says family spokesman David Satterfield. He was 54.

The self-described "Painter of Light," battled alcohol abuse in the past and was arrested for DUI in 2010, according to the Los Angeles Times.

He had been separated from his wife Nanette for more than a year.

"Thom provided a wonderful life for his family," Nanette said in a statement. "We are shocked and saddened by his death."

Kinkade depicted scenes of a light-filled America through images of home, pastoral landscapes and country gardens.
