This Year: The Buzz

Naked celebrities, star meltdowns, feuds between the famous, brushes with the law and reality television generated a lot of buzz on TheShowbuzz.com this year.

There were dozens of hot topics over the last 12 months to choose from; here's a look at ten of the most popular stories.

1. Vanessa Hudgens Nude!

"High School Musical 2" star Vanessa Hudgens got a new image this year, but not one that she wanted. Nude pictures of the squeaky-clean Disney Channel star appeared on the Internet. Her publicist said they were taken privately and should not have become a public matter.

On the other hand, "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe didn't mind taking off his clothes, especially for his "art." He starred in a production of "Equus" in London's West End, causing a commotion when he showed of his six-pack abs.

2. Paris Does Jail

2"She doesn't like orange anymore," Hilton's mother said, referring to her daughter Paris' jail uniform. "She can't wait to get that orange suit off."

The heiress walked out of the joint on June 26 after a short stay, but did her experience with the criminal justice system change her for the better? She answered that and many other questions during a much-ballyhooed Q&A on CNN's "Larry King Live." Whether she answered his questions honestly was a hotly debated topic at water coolers around the country the next day.

3. Anna Nicole Smith Dies

3Anna Nicole Smith died at age 39 on Feb. 8, only months after the death of her son Daniel and the birth of her infant Dannielynn. What followed was a months-long bizarre legal battle between her companion, the father of her infant, and her own mother over the model's burial and the custody of her child.

4. Owen Wilson Hospitalized

On Aug. 26, 38-year-old actor Owen Wilson was taken by ambulance to a hospital after police responded to a call about a suicide attempt at his Santa Monica home. The day after he was hospitalized, he issued a statement asking for privacy so he could "receive care and heal."

5. "The Bachelor" Chooses His Fiancee

Tessa Horst, a 26-year-old social worker from San Francisco, won the heart of "The Bachelor" this season. During the season finale of the ABC series, Andy Baldwin proposed and Horst said "yes." She was up against 24 other women vying for Baldwin's heart.

6. Miley Cyrus Rules

4With parents scrambling to get tickets for her Hannah Montana concert tour, and kids rushing to get her hit album and tuning in to her TV show, Miley Cyrus was possibly the hottest teen on the planet. The daughter of singer Billy Ray Cyrus seems to be a happy teenager and so far has avoided the pitfalls of stardom that have tripped up other young starlets.

7. "Dancing With The Stars"

It was a busy year for the ABC reality show "Dancing With The Stars" with not one, but two contest this year. Speed skater Apollo Anton Ono won the spring season in May and race car driver Helio Castroneves won the fall race

8. Miss USA Falls Down

Japan's Riyo Mori was crowned Miss Universe in Mexico City on May 27, but the evening's most memorable moment came courtesy of Miss USA, Rachel Smith. Smith, who was named fourth runner-up at the pageant, lived a beauty queen's worst nightmare during the evening gown competition: she slipped and fell on stage. She immediately got up and continued to work the catwalk, never losing her smile.

9. Britney Spears' MTV Meltdown

5Britney Spears had an awful year, what with the head-shaving, the trips to rehab, and the custody battle with ex-hubby Kevin Federline. But her lowest point of all was a cringe-worthy comeback attempt at the MTV video music awards that showed the former pop princess had truly let herself go.

10. "The View" Smackdown

The battle between Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Rosie O'Donnell on ABC's "The View" came to a boiling point in May when the two co-hosts resurrected their fight about O'Donnell's comments on U.S. involvement in Iraq and terrorists. O'Donnell subsequently left the show, and Whoopi Goldberg was brought on as her replacement.
