"The Wolverine" has a sequel in the works
Hugh Jackman could be sharpening his Wolverine claws once again.
Twentieth Century Fox is reportedly moving forward with another standalone film about the Marvel mutant, on the heels of this year's "The Wolverine."
According to Entertainment Weekly, "The Wolverine" director James Mangold is in talks to write a treatment for the new film. The storyline is currently being kept under wraps, and EW reports that Jackman is waiting to see a script before he commits to the project.
If he gets on board, this will mark the eighth time Jackman has played Logan/Wolverine. He'll be on screen as the character again this spring in"X-Men: Days of Future Past," which unites the cast from the original "X-Men" films with the new, rebooted "First Class" characters via a time-travel plot. That film is set to open on May 23, 2014.
"The Wolverine" was a modest box-office hit in the United States this summer but played strongly abroad, per Deadline, taking in a total of $413 million worldwide and making it the second-highest grossing "X-Men" film of all time.
