"The Walking Dead" season premiere: Prison or sanctuary?
The third season of "The Walking Dead" premiered on AMC Sunday night with Rick and the other survivors finding a new home in an abandoned maximum security prison.
(Spoiler Alert)
Last season left off with the reveal of a prison in the near distance, leaving viewers to speculate as to whether that was the setting for season three. Now, six months later, the gang is taking the prison for its own.
Inside, after killing walkers in the courtyard, they stock up on ammunition and weapons. Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies), who is now very pregnant, is worried about her baby's health with her lack of nutrition and makes Herschel promise someone will kill her again if she dies.
Michonne (Danai Gurira), who mysteriously saves Andrea (Laurie Holden) in last year's season finale, is shown with Andrea, but Andrea is very sick.
While inside, the group is not free of walkers. Hershel (Scott Wilson) walks over a walker he thinks is dead, but instead gets his left leg bitten, forcing Rick (Andrew Lincoln) to save his life by cutting the leg off before the zombie virus took over.
At the end of the episode it is revealed that the gang isn't the only survivor looking to the prison for shelter.
