The Simpsons Arcade Game finally makes it to Xbox 360, PS3
(CBS) - Following the footsteps of its Konami classic arcade brethren Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and X-Men: The Arcade, The Simpsons Arcade finally receives a port to home consoles.
Players control Homer, Marge, Bart or Lisa as you and up to three friends chase down the evil cape-wearing, diamond-thieving, baby-napping Smithers (what?) to save Maggie from the clutches of old Monty Burns.
Everything is as you remember from your days bleeding quarters at the local arcade. The graphics are charmingly dated, the sound quality is tinny and the gameplay is about as straight forward as it gets. This side-scrolling button-masher feels as dated as it is, but does receive a few new play modes for those looking for more of a challenge as well as a few modest unlockable extras.
The Simpsons Arcade game largely gets by on nostalgia. If you've been wishing to relive your child-hood arcade adventures in Springfield, USA then you'll likely enjoy the thirty to forty minute span of the game's adventure. Gamers new to the experience may not be quite so charmed by the classic 90's fare.
The Simpsons Arcade Game is rated E10+ for Everyone 10+ by the ESRB. It is available now for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
