The inherent differences between cats and dogs

(CBSNews) Is there anything better than coming home after a long day of work and being happily greeted by whatever critter you have waiting for you? Be it a dog, a bird, a snake, a kitty, a bunny or otherwise? There really isn't anything that can brighten your day more than an animal friend welcome.... Though Lt. Gary Daugherty, who's emotional reunion with dog Bugaboo was documented in the video above shared by icecat8301, may have been on the receiving end of one of the best reunions ever. Ever! Grab a box of tissues and check out this amazing moment that'll surely bring a smile to your face, if not a tear to your eye (unless you're a cold, heartless, terrible person, that is, but I know you're not).

I mean, come on! Have you ever seen anything as cute as that? This dog is so excited to see her owner that she is shaking and crying and squiggling with joy. She can't get over her own excitement, and she definitely can't get enough of her long-lost owner, crawling on his lap and whimpering with unbridled glee. That must have been a long 6 months for this poor pooch. And her Lieutenant owner seems just as happy, albeit a little more reserved.

Speaking of reserved, for the absolute opposite reaction, check out the video above posted by pointforgotten documenting a similar situation, but with a cat.... If this clip doesn't prove that cat's just don't give a you-know-what, I don't know what else will. Though, let me preface this with the fact that I like and grew up with cats. But if you're looking for a warm welcome home, a cat is not your answer. Cats are all about themselves, so if they're hungry, you may get some attention. But a welcome home, you surely will not. They just can't be bothered to get up from wherever they are snoozing.

It also must be said, that I have a pretty good hunch that this video was made as a reaction to Bugaboo's excitement, since her emotional greeting has gone so viral. Regardless, the point is still pretty much the same: While dogs may be man's best friend, cats are primarily their own best friend. Either way both videos make me smile, even if it's for totally different reasons.
