"The Help," "Bridesmaids" earn nods for top producer award

(CBS) "The Help," "Bridesmaids" and "The Artist" are all up for the Producers Guild of America's top feature film award for 2012.

Special section: Awards season They're among the 10 films competing for the Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award for Theatrical Motion Pictures, the PGA revealed on Tuesday.

Also up for the coveted prize are "The Descendants," "Hugo," "War Horse," "Midnight in Paris," "Moneyball," "The Ides of March" and "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."

Absent from the best picture nominee list were the buzzed-about "Tree of Life," "Drive" and "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close."

The Producers Guild Awards can sometimes provide clues into potential Oscars winners, The Wrap notes. Over the past 10 years, six of the PGA top feature film winners also scored the Oscar for best picture.

The long-form TV category nominees were "Cinema Verite," "Mildred Pierce," "Too Big to Fail," "Downton Abbey" and "The Kennedys."

Television dramas nominees are "Boardwalk Empire," "Dexter," "Game of Thrones," "The Good Wife" and "Mad Men."

The Producers Guild Awards will be held Jan. 21 in Los Angeles.
