"The Great Gatsby" trailer officially released
(CBS News) So far we had only been given stills from Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby," but now the studio has released something bigger we can chew on - a trailer.
In classic Luhrmann fashion, he uses anachronisms to his advantage setting the scene with Kanye West and Jay-Z's "No Church in the Wild," from their Watch The Throne album, with scenes from the roaring '20s in New York City.
The parties thrown by Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio) look enticing, as girls in flapper dresses dance around and bottles are popped. Midwestern outsider Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) takes in the glamorous scene just as the audience does.
In the trailer we also get to see Daisy Buchanan, played by Carey Mulligan, Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan , who plays Meyer Wolfsheim , and newcomer Elizabeth Debicki as Jordan Baker.
From the trailer it already appears that Luhrmann's take on the American literature classic is going to be a far cry from the 1970s adaptation starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow.
