In the show's final episode Lt. Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick) leads her final investigation, which involves the elusive Philip Stroh (Billy Burke). The investigation takes a turn and leaves Brenda questioning her job and future.

With the departure of Sedgwick, the show is morphing into "Major Crimes," a spin-off like series that will center on Mary McDonnell's Capt.Sharon  Raydor and features most of Brenda's team including Lt. Provenza (G.W. Bailey), Lt. Andy Flynn (Tony Denison), Lt. Mike Tao (Michael Paul Chan) and Det. Julio Sanchez (Raymond Cruz).

Sedgwick, who won Emmy and Golden Globe awards for her work in "The Closer," told "CBS This Morning" there was a lot of "boo-hooing" but it was her choice to leave the show after seven years.

Now, Sedgwick is "looking for that next great thing."

The series finale of "The Closer" airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT and "Major Crimes" premieres right after on TNT.
