(CBS News) Comedy duo Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg star in the upcoming film, "That's My Boy," and are hoping to rake in big laughs.

Sandler and Samberg, both former "Saturday Night Live" members who became stars on the television sketch comedy show, bonded both on- and off-screen.

Sandler told CBS News, "I think he is actually smarter than me and does a lot more than I did at his age."

Samberg noted that Sandler is someone he looked up to as a young comedian in the industry.

"He's like one of the main inspirations for me as a young man wanting to get into comedy for sure," Samberg told CBS News.

Sandler, 45, plays a former reality TV star and hard-partying playboy, Donnie Berger, who is reunited with Tom Peterson, his more conservative son, played by Samberg, 33, the night before his son's big wedding day.

Sandler, Samberg and other cast members attended movie premieres in Boston and Los Angeles last week to promote the comedy. Fans crowded the red carpet to snap photos of co-stars Ciara, Leighton Meester and Susan Sarandon.
