Texas Rangers to offer fans bacon-on-a-stick
ARLINGTON, Texas - While the Texas Rangers front office spent the off-season making moves on the field, workers spent the time making additions to Globe Life Park and chefs at the ballpark busied themselves in the kitchen trying to top last year's menus with tasty new additions.
"Its so hard to come up with a new concept every year," said Globe Life Park Executive Chef Cris Vazquez. "You think you've done everything and you start looking and saying 'Golly, I wish I could come up with something!'...and this year it's been fun. We've come up with a lot of new concepts."
Debuting this spring: bacon-on-a-stick.Thick Hungarian bacon on a stick smoked and finished with a coating of maple syrup.
"It's really, really good!" Vazquez exclaimed. "It's just so tasty, it's like a party in your mouth! You've got the saltiness, the sweetness, the spiciness. It's really good!"
The team is also introducing a new sandwich in honor of new outfielder Shin-Soo Choo. It's 24-inches long, earning it the name 'The Choomongous'.
"Its kind of a Tex-Mex/Asian dish," Vazquez explained. "And it's a Korean BBQ sandwich with Asian cole slaw and Sriracha mayonnaise. It's wonderful! Real tasty!"
