Teen planned robbery of his own family's home, say San Jose cops
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- A teenage boy is accused of being the mastermind of a brazen daytime home invasion that targeted his own house, reports CBS San Francisco
According to the station, San Jose Police said 17-year-old Simer Jeet Singh helped three known gang members plan the May 8 break-in at his family's home. An adult and two other teenagers have also been charged with the robbery which was captured on the Singh family's home security video system.
All three teens have been charged as adults in the case, reports the station.
Police said Singh wasn't there during the robbery. However, terrified family members are seen on video fleeing to hide in a room as thieves carrying knives ransack the home.
The robbers reportedly ran off when they heard women in the house calling police, and were later arrested.
CBS San Francisco reports that prosecutors said sources told them to look at the homeowner's son, who is now accused of letting the robbers inside his home.
Police said Singh knew the other suspects from high school.
