Taylor Swift to coach "The Voice"
Contestants on "The Voice" are about to get pointers from someone who knows a thing or two about pop songs: Taylor Swift.
The NBC competition show announced Friday that the "Shake It Off" singer is serving as the key mentor to competitors this season. She'll make her first appearance on Oct. 27, the same day as the release of her new album, "1989."
On three shows, Swift will advise contestants on vocal technique, stage presence and picking the right songs to fit their strengths.
Swift will mentor singers on all four teams, just as Coldplay's Chris Martin did during season 6.
"Taylor was an absolute pleasure to work with," a source told Us Weekly. "She had great feedback for all the contestants. She made for an amazing mentor."
Swift will be working with veterans Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, as well as new coaches Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams, who were added to the lineup this season.
Each team will have an adviser as well. Steve Wonder is working with Adam Levine, Gavin Rossdale with wife Stefani, Little Big Town with Shelton and Alicia Keys with Williams.
There's no word on whether Swift will appear after the Nov. 3 show.
