Taylor Swift reportedly offered role of Eponine in "Les Mis" film

(CBS) Taylor Swift has been offered the role of Eponine in the big-screen version of musical "Les Miserables" beating out Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood, according to reports.

Universal reportedly offered Swift the role, after tough competition from Broadway veteran Michele, Tony winner Johansson and film veteran Wood, reports BroadwayWorld.com.

The studio also offered "Mamma Mia!" film star Amanda Seyfried the role of Cosette, according to the site.

The rest of the cast is also shaping up to be full of stars: Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Javert, Sasha Baron Cohen as Thenardier, Eddie Redmayne as Marius, Aaron Tveit as Enjolras, Anne Hathaway as Fantine and Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thenardier.

All cast members will be singing live for the Tom Hooper-directed film. Filming is to start in March and the release date is tentatively set for Dec. 7, 2012, according to Broadway World.
