Taylor Swift donating "Welcome to New York" proceeds to NYC schools

Taylor Swift is now calling New York home, and she wants to give back to her adopted city.

The singer's new album "1989," released Monday, includes the NYC anthem "Welcome to New York." That same day, she was named the city's "global welcome ambassador."

Some New Yorkers aren't thrilled with the Pennsylvania native's very public declaration of affection for their city (or the version of it she depicts in her song), but she's shaking those critics off with this bit of good news -- she's donating all the proceeds from "Welcome to New York" to the city's public schools.


Swift also stopped by the "Late Show with David Letterman" on Tuesday, where she performed "Welcome to New York" during the show. Watch it below:
