Suspect in custody after Md. officer shot in face

ABERDEEN, Md. -- The suspect accused of shooting and wounding a police officer in northeast Maryland early Friday has been taken into custody after a manhunt, reports CBS Baltimore.

Police say the 10-year veteran with the Aberdeen Police Department was investigating suspicious activity in Aberdeen around 3 a.m. when he was shot in the face with a long gun. He underwent surgery for a "projectile in his eye," according to police spokesman Sgt. C. William Reiber.

Police say 21-year-old Tyler Testerman was arrested after an eight-hour manhunt as SWAT teams surrounded a home in nearby Edgewood.

The officer, identified by CBS Baltimore as Jason Easton, is reportedly in stable condition.
