Suspect charged in Texas convenience store murder
THE COLONY, Texas - The suspect in the fatal shooting of a convenience store owner in suburban Dallas has been arrested, reports CBS DFW.
Deon Kingston, Jr. is charged with capital murder in the shooting death of Samira Siwakoti, who was killed June 10 during an alleged robbery at her Rapido convenience store in The Colony, Texas.
Surveillance video from the store showed a man, who police said was the 19-year-old Kingston, pulling out a gun and leaving with cash from the register, reports the Dallas Morning News.
David Coulon, chief of The Colony Police Department, said Siwakoti's husband, Nabaraj, was relieved to hear of the arrest.
"My wife will finally be at peace," Nabaraj Siwakoti said, according to Coulon.
Siwakoti and her husband owned the store on Main Street in The Colony.
An anonymous tip led police to a home in Frisco, Texas where Kingston was staying, Coulon told CBS DFW.
Kingston fled the home but was apprehended a short time later, while hiding nearby in the neighborhood. Kingston also faces an aggravated robbery charge for another convenience store robbery last month in Frisco, and police say he may also be linked to an armed robbery at a Cash-N-Go in The Colony that occurred days before the murder.
Coulon said police expect to make several other arrests in connection with Siwakoti's death.
