Super Bowl 2013: Colin Kaepernick remains humble despite 49ers playoff success
SANTA CLARA The San Francisco 49ers continue to prepare for Super Bowl XLVII against the Baltimore Ravens, trying to stay loose before the big game in a little more than week.
As KCBS reports, that includes quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Even though he already has two playoff wins under his belt, he's not letting that go to his head.
"I just try to keep my head down and keep working," he said. "Not worry about anything else."
In talking with the media on Thursday, Kaepernick did reveal that his favorite tattoo is the one on the inside of his arm that reads "My gift is my curse," which he said applies to his life in many different ways.
"Being an NFL quarterback, there's a lot of advantages that come with it. There's a lot of doors that open when you're a quarterback," Kaepernick said. "But at the same time, you're under a lot of scrutiny and there's a lot of things you can't do as well."
When asked if he had any inkling Kaepernick would be this good this soon, 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman said like the rest of the league, he was a bit surprised.
"I could stand up here and say, oh I knew it all the time, but that's not the case at all," Roman said. "I remember walking around the field before the Chicago game saying we're in good shape. It felt good. But you never quite know until somebody goes out and shows it on the field."
Kaepernick is 7-2 as starter for the 49ers since replacing Alex Smith as quarterback.
