"Sunday Morning" contributor Conor Knighton kicks off "On The Trail"
CBS' "Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood" contributor Conor Knighton kicks off "On The Trail," a year-long, cross-country look at America's National Parks, with the first report from Acadia National Park in Maine to be featured February 7, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. ET on the CBS Television Network.
Over the course of the year -- which coincides with the National Park Service's 100th anniversary -- Knighton will visit all 59 National Parks. His reports will be featured every other week on "Sunday Morning," the #1 Sunday morning news program.
"All this year, I'll be heading out 'On the Trail,' traveling the country, telling some of the stories behind our National Parks," Knighton says.
Knighton begins his journey at Acadia National Park, which from October to early March is the first place to see the sunrise in the continental United States. Knighton was on hand along with a group of other intrepid wintertime visitors as the sun came up on Acadia on New Year's Day.
From Maine, he'll continue to Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky, and on across America.
Subaru of America, the official automotive partner of the National Park Service Centennial, is the exclusive sponsor of Knighton's "On The Trail" segments, and is providing him with a Subaru Outback for the trip.
The Emmy Award-winning "Sunday Morning," hosted by Charles Osgood, is broadcast on CBS on Sundays beginning at 9:00 a.m. ET/PT. Executive producer is Rand Morrison.
