Student Accused In Deadly Plot
A 16-year-old Marshfield boy is accused of plotting a deadly attack the town's high school.
Police say the student was planning to use explosives to carry out the plot next April, possibly around the anniversary of the Columbine massacre in Colorado.
The boy's name has not been released because of his age. Police say he was arrested last month as a result of information developed by two school resource officers. He's been ordered held without bail following a dangerousness hearing.
Police say the teen-ager was targeting specific teachers and students that he intended to kill.
Police say the teen planned to trap students and teachers inside the school by padlocking doors and then kill them, reports CBS News Correspondent Jennifer Donelan.
A search of the student's home turned up diagrams of the school with exits marked. Officers also discovered a shopping list for guns, ammunition, padlocks and gas masks, and evidence that he had visited Web sites on his computer that contained instructions for making explosives.
At a news conference this afternoon, police said they discovered evidence that the boy had manufactured homemade bombs. Investigators also searched woods near his house and found evidence that an explosive device had been detonated.
Police say no one else has been arrested and that the high school is safe.
