Steve Harvey wishes everyone "Merry..." what?!
Steve Harvey is not letting his major Miss Universe gaffe dampen his Easter - or, uh, Christmas.
The comedian took to social media on Friday afternoon, wishing his three million followers: "Merry Easter y'all!" He included a photo of himself, with a half-smoked cigar dangling in his mouth, flashing a peace sign in front of a pool.
Harvey's mistake at Sunday's Miss Universe pageant has become an infamous viral moment: he incorrectly dubbed Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, the show's winner, before returning to the stage in Las Vegas to announce his error.
The winner was, in fact, Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. The crown was stripped from the head of Gutierrez - the scene was both cringe-worthy, but also live television at its finest. Exacerbating his mistake, Harvey posted a tweet after the show riddled with spelling errors (he apologized to "Miss Philippians" and "Miss Columbia"). That missive was promptly deleted and replaced.
Throughout the week, Harvey became the popular subject of Internet memes, poking fun at him for the blunder. "Happy Friday!" one read, text plastered over Harvey's face. "Wait, sorry, it's Monday." Today, however, Harvey appears to be in on the joke. Merry Easter, indeed.
