Stephen Colbert to host the Kennedy Center Honors
Stephen Colbert will be back at the Kennedy Center Honors.
The "Late Show" host will emcee the 38th annual event, which will see President Barack Obama honor Carole King, George Lucas, Rita Moreno, Seiji Ozawa and Cicely Tyson.
The honorees are recognized for their lifetime contributions to American culture through the performing arts -- whether in dance, music, theater, opera, movies or TV.
Colbert isn't a stranger to the Kennedy Center Honors. He hosted the gala in 2014 and prior to that -- in 2011 -- appeared during a tribute to Yo-Yo Ma.
This year's event will take place on Dec. 6 and will air as a special Dec. 29 on CBS from 9:00 to 11 p.m. ET.
