The new Spotify for Android will be completely redesigned from "top-to-bottom." Some of the new features include: new "slide-out" navigation, the ability to view profiles and playlists, related artist view, high-resolution imagery and 320kbps listening. Support for Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is also included in the update.
A preview of the app is available for download now. Early adopters can follow this link to Spotify's website and use the instructions below for installation.
"Set your phone to allow installation from "Unknown Sources" by going to the Settings > Applications > Unknown sources menu. Once that's done, click on the button below on your phone to get the update."
You can uninstall the app, if you'd rather wait for the full release. A spokesperson for Spotify told CBS News that the app will be available on Google Play after the team has heard feedback from users. No timeline was specified.
Take note that, while the service is free, mobile listening is only available to premium subscribers who pay a $9.99 monthly fee.
Spotify is a free ad-supported, music-streaming service that is accessed through a desktop client. The company launched in the U.S. in July 2011. Mobile apps are available on iPhone, Android, Windows, BlackBerry, Palm and Symbian.
