Skip Holtz Out Of Hospital

South Carolina offensive coordinator Skip Holtz was released from the hospital Wednesday.

Skip Holtz had been hospitalized since Sunday with severe abdominal pain and a fever. The Holtz family and South Carolina officials had become increasingly concerned.

"I'm very happy to report that Skip's fever went down and he's going to released from the hospital today and he will be at the game," Lou Holtz said Wednesday during the weekly SEC coaches media conference call.

South Carolina plays at Georgia this week. It was not immediately clear if Skip Holtz would be able to coach for the Gamecocks even though he will be at the game.

Skip Holtz had been experiencing pain since Sept. 1 and was in "great pain" Saturday according to his father when the Gamecocks played North Carolina State. Skip has been taking antibiotics intravenously since Sunday.

Doctors were to decide Wednesday whether to proceed with a laparoscopy, a procedure to check Skip Holtz's colon. It is not known when or if he will be back at practice this week. The Gamecocks were shut out 10-0 in Lou Holtz debut as their coach against North Carolina State.

"Offensively, we can't change much during the course of the week," Lou Holtz said. "I thought we had a very good solid game plan the other night. The game plan won't change much."
