Siri refuses to answer this question
In June, Apple executives were excited to show off how much better Siri was at getting you the answers you're looking for.
But now, Siri is getting selective.
Users are finding that Siri is replying to music related queries by saying she can't look up the answer if you're not subscribed to Apple Music.
"This is crazy that they would do this," said CNET.com senior editor Jeff Bakalar.
The touchy reply was noticed Monday by Tom Conrad, who (ironically enough) is the co-creator of Pandora. When he asked Siri for the most popular song in the U.S. today, she said:
"Sorry, Tom, I can't look up the music charts for you. You don't seem to be subscribed to Apple Music."
It's a surprising way for the company to drive new users to the four-month-old subscription streaming service, which has racked up 6.5 million paying customers since it launched at the end of June.
"Nobody wants to be shamed into paying $10 a month for Apple Music," Bakalar said, adding, "It's a bad look for Apple."
Siri's integration into the streaming service was heralded by Apple and enjoyed by users from the start, but this bias against non-subscribers feels oddly passive aggressive. CBS News reached out to the company for comment.
