(CBS) - New photos of an unrecognizable Sinead O'Connor are creating a big buzz on the Web.

The Irish singer, known for having a shaved head and for her 1990 cover of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U," is now sporting a fuller figure, glasses and longer hair as she tours this summer.

For example, O'Connor, 44, was performing as a backup singer for reggae artist Natty Wailer during the Bray Seaside Music Festival when she was photographed on Saturday.

She was dressed in all black, wearing a partly sheer top, blazer and pants with large cross around her neck.

In 1992, O'Connor made headlines for tearing up a photo of Pope John Paul II during a "Saturday Night Live" appearance to protest sexual abuse in the Catholic Church.

Her last album, "Throw Down Your Arms," was released in 2005. O'Connor, now a mother of four, is currently on tour in Europe.
