Simon Cowell gushes over newborn son Eric, posts photos

The entertainment mogul and girlfriend Lauren Silverman welcomed their first child on Friday at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, and Cowell has been gushing over his newborn son ever since.

He first announced the news Friday via Twitter: "Very happy to say Eric was born at 17.45pm. Healthy and handsome." Cowell's father, who died in 1999, was also named Eric. 

Since then, he's posted a host of photos online: 

Cowell, 54, talked about fatherhood last fall with Parade magazine, saying, "I’m not brilliant with babies. I never know what to do. But [once he’s older] I think I’ll be a good dad in terms of advice. And then I’ll get to do all the things I want to do, like go to Disneyland or Universal Studios, teach him how to drive -- I love all that."

The pregnancy news surfaced in July while Silverman was still married to now ex-husband (and Cowell's friend) Andrew Silverman. The New York socialite already has a son with her ex.

Fox recently announced that Cowell's "X Factor" series won't be returning in the U.S.
