Shia LaBeouf slaps fan during performance art elevator stunt
Shia LaBeouf really doesn't want to hurt people -- even when his fans ask nicely.
At least that's what one fan learned during LaBeouf's recent performance art stunt, "#ELEVATE," which took place Friday and Saturday in Oxford, England. For the piece, LaBeouf and collaborators Nastja Rönkkö and Luke Turner spent 24 hours hanging out in an elevator, interacting with whichever fans wanted to stop by.
For one fan, that meant more than just a bit of chit-chat.
"Can you help me with the completion of my next piece by punching me in the face?" Oxford University freshman Oscar Plomer-Roberts asked LaBeouf, who immediately disapproved of the idea. "Do it. Don't be a p***y," Plomer-Roberts added.
Clearly not backing down, the student eventually suggested the "Fury" star give him a slap instead, though there were still reservations: "I'll do it to myself, but I don't like doing it to you, dude," LaBeouf said. "I just met you." But a few seconds later, LaBeouf caught him off-guard with a slap.
"I asked him to punch me, and he connected a sort of play-punch -- as a joke, obviously," Plomer-Roberts later told Entertainment Tonight. "Then I asked for a slap instead, because he was obviously uncomfortable with the prospect of hurting someone -- because, I might add, he's a really nice guy."
