Sheriff: Fla. teen intentionally ran over deputy

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. --Law enforcement officials say a 15-year-old boy deliberately ran over an Orange County deputy near Orlando, and authorities are still looking for the suspect.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings says the deputy has serious injuries to her head, back, hand and foot.

Authorities say the deputy, Sgt. Mary Pearce, had an order to take the teen into custody on Friday morning. He ran over her as she approached a vehicle he was in. The teen fled in a white Honda hatchback with black rims and remains on the loose, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.

The sheriff says Pearce heard the car's engine revving up before she was hit. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening. She was released from the hospital around 4 p.m. Friday, the station reports.

Authorities are seeking help from the public in locating him. Demings described him as dangerous. The teen has a previous arrest for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

He's reportedly now facing attempted murder charges.

Pearce has been with the agency for more than two decades.
