Shena Hardin, Cleveland woman caught on tape driving on sidewalk, must wear "idiot" sign
(CBS/AP) CLEVELAND - A judge has ordered a woman to stand at an intersection wearing a sign essentially calling herself an "idiot" after she was caught on videotape driving on a sidewalk to avoid a school bus unloading children.
Cleveland resident Shena Hardin, 32, was busted last month. Witnesses say Hardin drove on the sidewalk on a daily basis to avoid waiting behind the bus, according to CBS affiliate WOIO.
Fearing a potentially dangerous situation, the bus driver contacted the Third District Police before starting his route. Officers waited for Hardin, and caught her in the act.
At the same time, the bus driver caught Hardin's maneuver on his cellphone video.
On Monday, a Cleveland Municipal Court judge told Hardin to stand at an intersection for two days next week, according to court records. She will have to wear a sign saying: "Only an idiot drives on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus."
The judge ordered her to wear the sign from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. next Tuesday and Wednesday.
Hardin's license was suspended for 30 days and she was ordered to pay $250 in court costs.
