Shayna Hubers, Kentucky woman, faces murder charge in boyfriend's shooting death
(CBS/AP) CAMPBELL COUNTY, Ky. - A Lexington woman appeared in court Tuesday to face charges that she killed her boyfriend last Friday, CBS affiliate WKYT reports.
Shayna Hubers, 21, was arraigned via video for allegedly shooting 29-year-old Ryan Poston. Poston's body was found in the dining room of his apartment on Oct. 12.
Hubers was jailed on an initial $2 million bond, but a Campbell County judge reduced it to $1 million after Hubers' defense attorney argued that she was considered low-risk and has no criminal record. Hubers is being held at the Campbell County Detention Center in Newport, Ky.
Authorities are investigating a motive in the shooting.
Poston's family issued a statement about their devastation over his death:
"Ryan was as bright as he was kind and as principled as he was caring. His passing is an unspeakable hardship to so many people," the statement said. "We want to make it clear that Ryan was trying to end this relationship; he was trying to move on with his life. Tragically, his life was taken from him. Justice must now be served."
