Send Your Mailing Lists to Google for Easy Unsubscribing
When you no longer want to receive a mailing list, what do you do? If you're like a lot of people, you just mark it as spam and get on with your day. After all, unsubscribing properly can be a pain in the neck. No problem: Gmail will now unsubscribe you from your mailing lists so you don't have to.
It works like this: When you no longer want to receive daily newsletters from the Bottled Water Marketing Association, mark it as spam. If Gmail can unsubscribe you from the mailing list, it'll offer you the option. Not everything will get an unsubscribe option, though, since Google can't unsubscribe you from all mailing lists.
You know what that means, right? It's time to make sure all your mailing lists go to Gmail, so you don't have to worry about manually unsubscribing from many of your mailing lists again. I like this feature, because it invites experimentation. Signing up for a mailing list used to be like getting married, but now it's easier to end the relationship since Google handles the unpleasant bits for you. Too bad Google can't intervene in human relationships for you, too. [via Download Squad]
