See swift hummingbirds shown in super slow-motion
(CBS News) After our up close and personal perspective with a grizzly bear "eating" a camera, we're going to continue with our focus upon nature (which we also explored by land and by sea the other day). But we're going to change things up from the big to small with a fascinating look at a series of swift hummingbirds... in super slow-motion! Watch it unfold very slowly above.
Considering the speeds at which these little guys fly (which has always impressed me, along with their general cuteness, of course), it's quite a sight to see them at these significantly slowed down rates. The insightful clip was submitted to us courtesy of Earth Unplugged, whose ongoing series has been featured here on The Feed multiple times now, and who write about their latest:
Hummingbirds in slow motion are beautifully epic. These tiny birds beat their wings so furiously it is hard to understand what is going on. So Sam Hume and Simon Baxter visit a very special location in Los Angeles and use a high speed camera to reveal some of the hummingbirds' most intriguing behaviour.Another impressive and educational piece of work from Earth Unplugged that is deserving of a round of applause from all of us here at The Feed!
