Second Cup Cafe: Mary, Mary
The platinum-selling, Grammy Award-winning R&B/gospel duo, Mary Mary, helped The Early Show Saturday Edition celebrate the holidays by gracing the "Second Cup Cafe" with songs from their 2006 album, "A Mary Mary Christmas."
Mary Mary consists of sisters Tina and Erica Campbell.
In 2001, their breakout album, "Thankful," won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album.
They've enjoyed critical praise and commercial success ever since for their blend of R&B and gospel.
Their latest release is titled "The Sound." It hit stores in October and was their first album since "Mary Mary Christmas."
"The Sound" has 11 new songs, including the album's first single, "Get Up," which they call "a pop-infused anthem of praise and empowerment."
"That song embodies what the whole album is about," says Erica Campbell. "It asks people, 'Why are you waiting? Why do you care what other people think?' It reminds us that your beginning can be whenever you want it to be."
"The Sound" also marks the start of a new phase in the sisters' career: They say they "hope to" expand their brand into areas such as a bath and beauty line, a designer t-shirt collection, children's books and music, interactive computer games, stage work, television, and more.
