Second Cup Cafe: KT Tunstall

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter KT Tunstall became an instant star with her debut album with the infectious beat, "Eye to the Telescope." It sold more than 1 million copies in the U.S. alone and produced a second smash single, "Suddenly I See," which proved that the Scottish singer was no one-hit wonder.

She is back with her highly-anticipated follow-up CD, "Drastic Fantastic," and she visited the Second Cup Cafe to share her latest single, "Hold On."

She told Maggie Rodriguez that her sophomore effort created different pressures from her first outing.

"I mean, there's always a bit of pressure," Tunstall said. "It's just very strange when the first time you made a record, you're desperately trying to get people to listen to it, and the second time around, hmm, everybody is waiting this time.

"The pressure really came from me just needing to make something that I really felt passionate about, and felt was the best that I could do in the studio, so that was what took the effort."

When asked to explain the title "Drastic Fantastic," Tunstall said it reflected how her life has exploded since her first album took off. "It kind of dawned on me that my life in the last three years turned into this ridiculous comic book where I meet all these crazy characters and do this impossible amount of travel, and you seem to time travel: I just came here from Japan, and I landed five minutes before I took off on the same day!

"It was really just sounded like the kind of title of my present comic book existence."
